Length of the Text
One page of screenplay is usually equivalent to one minute of film. A feature film (1h30/2h) corresponds to a 90 to 120-page screenplay.
This is one reason film professionals prefer all screenplays to use the same presentation (font, line spacing, etc.).
It means the length of a film can be evaluated very simply: 1 page of screenplay = 1 minute of film. Of course this is only an approximate measurement.
Act 1 leads us into the story. It shouldn’t be unnecessarily long.
A rule: enter Act 2 as soon as possible, but not before having introduced and established the necessary elements to make the story “work”.
Act 2 is the main course of your film. It can take up two thirds of the film!
Act 3 is short. Act 3 follows Act 2 and presents the outcome you have imagined for each character.
