Emotions

What is your story’s emotional atmosphere? A serious or tragic story can include the occasional funny situation or character for comic relief.

In the same way, a very funny story can have a subtext and create unsuspected emotion.

It is always your choice, but stay coherent with your characters. Don’t use gratuitous or irrelevant emotion; it would be to the film’s disadvantage.

EXERCISE 21 Return to the previous exercise now and decide if the conflict should be funny or dramatic. Rewrite it according to your choice.

HELP It is important you know scene-by-scene the emotion(s) you want to convey to your audience.
